At NeuYou Rehab, we understand that every person with Parkinson's is unique - from the symptoms you experience to your home situation, your life demands and how you feel in response to your diagnosis. This uniqueness requires an approach that is individual and tailored to your needs.

 

From exercise and management strategies to social and emotional support, we are here to help you target your specific symptoms, manage your life living with Parkinson's, help you deal with your emotions and provide a local community of people in similar situations to yourself.

Exercise & movement is the ONE thing proven so far to be able to slow your Parkinson's down.

WHAT you do and HOW you do it matter when it comes to promoting brain health and driving positive neuroplastic change. To target your symptoms, both motor and non-motor, exercise needs to combine power, amplitude, effort, thinking, sensation, balance and FUN.

Exercise is most definitely the medicine you should be taking every day if you want to boost your ability to do those everyday tasks, to feel safe and confident when out and about, and to keep doing all the things you love and want to do.

 

All classes are provided & run by neuro-specialist therapists. We are able to provide individual strategies to help with symptom management during class, such as freezing of gait or difficulty in completing complex tasks, by providing training and adaptation of the task at hand to enable everyone to participate to their maximum potential.

If your Consultant or neuro specialist has not yet given you a prescription to exercise, then please add this to your daily treatment plan to a better, more independent and happier you:

Our exercise & wellness programme has been designed specifically for people with Parkinsons, using the most current research to determine the most effective types, frequency and intensity levels of exercise required to maximise benefit.

Combining this with complementary movement and mindfulness approaches to give you the skills to decrease stress and anxiety, and increase self-awareness, calm and wellbeing.

Assessments are completed every 6 months to keep you on track & moving forward.

 

Included as part of the whole package when working with us on a regular basis, all assessments are provided within the cost of the classes. 

At NeuYou, we have developed a weekly schedule of classes to support you in challenging and motivating yourself and to deny those predictions! 

 

Providing a range of exercise & movement methods gives you the opportunity to find the best fit for you - whether that be one high intensity mood-boosting class per week to work on your fitness or enjoying balancing this with some Reformer Pilates to get your mind in touch with your body and develop your core strength.

Nordic Walking is a bit like walking with ski poles. It provides great health benefits above normal walking, including increased cardiovascular output, provides an all-body workout with the arms & torso getting involved, increases balance for safer walking and the perceived output is LESS than normal walking.

Punch your way forward with our non-contact BOXING programme.
Our exercise drills, fancy footwork & powerful punches will help you improve your agility, speed, accuracy, hand-eye coordination, footwork, balance and overall strength to improve your every day experiences, physically & mentally. 

PUMP

Get the blood pumping! All the best bits of a gym session wrapped up in one combo class. 30 mins of interval training (cardio) plus 30 mins of weight training to increase heart rate, breathing & endorphins, improve circulation, mood, digestion & sleep, reduce pain and build strong muscles & strong bones. Boost your strength & confidence in standing, stepping, bending, reaching, pushing & pulling to improve your every day.

WHY GROUP CLASSES?

Classes provide a wonderful opportunity for camaraderie, socialising, improving motivation and helping to build a sense of community with others in similar situations to your own.

 

Sharing the time helps reduce the cost - without losing the personal touch. All exercises can be modified to enable everyone to take part and to ensure they are still specific to you and  your goals. 

Class sizes are kept small - no more than 6-8 people in any one class - and all classes are run by highly trained and skilled neuro-therapists.
